Overview

WA COFFEE & ROASTERY in Melaka is a true gem for coffee aficionados seeking authenticity and craft. Nestled at 640, Jalan Melaka Raya 10, this coffee shop stands apart from the usual café crowd. The location offers a quiet alternative to the bustling Jonker Street, with ample parking that makes it accessible and convenient.

The roastery’s strength lies in its dedication to specialty coffee. They roast their own beans on-site, ensuring freshness and a nuanced profile that appeals to lovers of medium roasts. It’s no surprise that customers rave about the nutty and chocolatey notes in their espresso and cappuccino. If you favor clarity in flavor, their Filter Coffee offers a smooth, subtle drinking experience balanced with fruity and fragrant qualities. The Panama Gesha, in particular, is a standout for those who appreciate delicate, refined beans.

WA COFFEE & ROASTERY is not about trendy aesthetics or polished interiors. The café’s decor might be described as utilitarian, with an eclectic mix of plants in unconventional containers and shelves lined with old items. This raw, unpretentious atmosphere seems to attract genuine coffee lovers looking beyond appearances — a space meant for focus on the cup itself, not social media backdrops.

The menu highlights include a French Vanilla Latte and Filter Coffee, both crafted with care and skill, complemented by a selection of freshly baked cookies. Their creative twists, like the Turbo Espresso Tonic, provide a refreshing blend for those seeking a post-lunch caffeine and alcohol mix. While desserts such as tiramisu do not steal the spotlight, they offer a modest accompaniment to the coffees.

What truly defines WA COFFEE & ROASTERY is the knowledgeable barista-owner who shares insights into the roasting process and brewing methods. This educational element enriches the visit, transforming it from just a coffee stop to an experience for those eager to learn. It welcomes coffee explorers eager to dive deep into flavor profiles and bean origins.

In summary, WA COFFEE & ROASTERY is tailored for discerning drinkers who value quality beans, expert roasting, and honest coffee culture over froufrou settings. It suits those who appreciate a quiet place to savor coffee’s complexities, nestled away from the hectic tourist spots of Melaka. If you seek genuine, well-crafted coffee with character and a touch of friendliness, this humble roastery is well worth your visit.

I've been searching high and low for a good coffee shop in Melaka. I tried a cappuccino and espresso and both were incredible. They roast their own beans, so the coffee is super fresh and tasty with nutty and chocolatey notes. Perfect for those who prefer medium roasts. Highly recommemded.

Tried Flat White and Turbo Espresso Tonic. Love the creative drink which blends very nicely together when you need alcohol and espresso after lunch. A normal flat white of smooth silky milk, taste good! Tiramisu is not a wow but it taste not bad either. Nice quiet cafe to chill.

Wa Coffee & Roastery serves specialty coffee and sells specialty coffee beans in the heart of Melaka, just outside of the extremely busy area of Jonker Street. If you are struggling to enter Jonker Street due to traffic issues, Wa Coffee serves as a perfect alternative as the parking spots here are plentiful. I had an iced black with a coffee blend. It was fragrant, fruity and with a nutty finish, as what a good coffee blend should be. The barista owner here is very knowledgeable about specialty coffee brewing and roasting. If you're looking for specialty coffee beans to take home, they serve a rotating variety to choose from. The café is very plain looking and frankly, ugly. There are piles of old stuff around on the racks and the tables are decor Ted with plants housed in old containers of fermented tofu, what?!? If you're looking for a beautiful café with cool vibes, this café ain't for that.

An actual coffee shop in Melaka. Not those "all-taste-the-same" cafes, but an actual coffee shop with various types of coffee, chocolate, and a few other drinks. Recommended for those coffee lovers that seek adventure.

One of the coffee specialized cafes that served very good flat white in Malacca. Super smooth and balanced taste. The tiramisu here has quite high alcohol content, rum or vodka, that might get you drunk after the dessert. Good and not sweet.

Dropped by this beautifully minimalist café and instantly fell for the vibes and the coffee. On our first visit, the espresso tonic stood out—light, zesty, and a perfect match with their house blend. Super refreshing and smooth. The Basque cheesecake was a dream—perfectly melty, rich, and indulgent without being too heavy. We loved it so much, we came back the next day. This time, I went for their pour over again—fragrant, fruity, and full of nuance. Just as good, if not better. The cappuccino was also a highlight—rich, velvety, and frothy in all the right ways. Best of all, the owner is incredibly friendly and helpful, especially when introducing the different beans and brews. You can really feel the passion behind the craft.

Place is quite secluded but it’s a very minimalistic chill and relaxed environment. The boss is running his show. If you are someone that likes coffee with after taste of the roast, this is it for you. Place has a variety of drinks, coffee, tea, houjicha etc. can drop by for a short break after your shopping and walks in Melaka. The only downside I feel is that the shop is really too plain haha!
